With a new season, there are multiple trends popping up that help complete a look. To look beautiful, everything is important, from the clothing to the shoes, the handbags to the makeup, the hair and the nails, glasses and accessories and everything in between. Now is the time to meet the fun side of fashion and femininity with the key trends you’ll be wearing - from pink to the newest brow shape, all the colours to play with, and the ultra-accessible and transformative hair trends. Here are some of the trends in hair, makeup and clothing this season...

Zainab Chottani’s diffusion high street line TAHRA presented a collection called ‘Joy’

Day 1

Central themes that reverberated among many of the collections were those of hope, resilience and a general sense of positivity. The collections consisted of nostalgic traditional prints using vibrant hues including fuchsia, amethyst, tangerine, jade green and cerulean sky blue transposed onto the season’s latest trends inspired by traditional silhouettes including short and off- the -shoulder embroidered balloon-sleeved tunics and shirts paired with voluminous shararas ghararas and shalwar pants and embellished with exquisitely intricate embroidery.

Zainab Chottani’s diffusion high street line TAHRA presented a collection called ‘Joy’. It was inspired by the idea that amid the stress of the pandemic we should all remain positive and think about joy and fun and appreciate the simple yet exquisite things around us like sunsets that warm our heart.

Consummate showman, poet and esoteric creator Yousuf Bashir Qureshi (YBQ) showcased his breathtaking 18-piece collection ‘Seen Unseen’ in an artistic poetry-laden fashion film featuring

Sarah Bashir Qureshi; Hani Yousuf Qureshi and Anoushey Abbasi which was inspired by dreaming of old Dhaka and the tale of a single mother and her connections with her offspring. The Casual Pret wear collection made from pure cotton and mulmul in pure white and soft pastels composed of loose tunics, shirts, and crop tops paired with Thar pants and dhotis end noted with an exquisite sari.

One of the leading and most established textile brands Al-Karam showcased a four-piece Luxe collection entitled: ‘Esfir’ (Star Like) that paid tribute to eastern roots and traditions, rendering an aura of ethereal beauty that transcends the constraints of time which was modelled by Robina Khan.

Day 2

Day Two’s line-up was equally eclectic and electric with collections from renowned designers. Ace designer Sadaf Malaterre presented a three-piece capsule collection called ‘Vibration’ whose inspiration was life itself employing 100 per cent silk chiffons hand-embroidered with sequins and 100 percent silk velvets dovetailed with tissue, the sleek, chic and both classic and contemporary silhouettes traversed a spectrum of colours including olive, burgundy and red offset with bronze and gold details.TV actor and model-muse Nausheen Shah was Malaterre’s special celebrity showstopper.

Zara Shahjahan presented a retro-with-a-modern twist Fashion film showcasing pieces from her stunning ‘Gota Bridal Collection 2020’ and featuring upcoming model Rabbania Sharjeel. The capsule collection included an airy raglan-sleeved organza shirt embellished with intricate single resham thread and gota work paired with an embellished raw silk gharara with Hazarbotti details in resham and gota and endnotes with a pink and white net applique dupatta finished with kiran borders.

Pioneering couturier Nilofer Shahid’s first ever capsule collection called ‘NS Essence’, showcased a medley of the finest fabrics including 100 per cent pure pima cotton, pure woven net, chikan; line cotton, jacquard cotton, organza and line organza in classic noir-black. Using pure and sumptuous fabrics, the capsule included modern silhouettes from a contemporary tunic and trouser look to a stunning evening wear sari as well as kaftans and modernised skirt- lehengas.

Umar Sayeed showcased an exquisite and graceful capsule, ethereally-entitled ‘The Lightness of Being’ featuring TV actor Zara Noor Abbas. The collection, consisted of pure fabrics including pure cotton- silk, net and pure silk, were imbued with delicate shades of white and beige for a subtly sensual look.

Day 3

Shamsha Hashwani’s capsule collection called ‘Behesht’ resonated with old world grandeur with three elegant womenswear and two suave menswear ensembles. The womenswear outfits included sleeveless high-low coat- tunics worn with wide border- embroidered pants and a full sleeved kurta tunic worn with cropped pants and billowing shawl like dupattas. These were beautifully crafted with cream-ecru silk Karandi and highlighted with delicate red and burnt sienna orange Kashmiri embroidery.

Leading iconic brand Lawrencepur’s Autumn/Winter Collection 2020 was inspired by the dapper styles of the 1950s, the epoch when the brand Lawrencepur was initially launched. The capsule collection included five looks imbued with ‘50s fashion trends updated with a contemporary touch.

Nauman Arfeen’s Summer/Autumn 2020 collection ‘Muskaan’ was inspired by the ideals of positivity, energy and joy, keeping in mind the stress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The festive, traditional collection included four menswear pieces comprising of elegant beige and off-white embroidered jamawar and raw silk sherwanis and one womenswear piece; a stunning soft pistachio pearl- work embellished net sari showcased in an artistic Fashion film starring TV and film actor/singer Junaid Khan and TV actress Rubab Hashim bedecked in traditional jewellery.

Rising star-designer Rozina Munib presented her chic and eclectic semi-formal collection ‘Sands of Arabia’ inspired by the mesmerising view of sand sparking bright like a diamond, under the sun’ and modelled by the equally stunning star model Fahmeen Ansari. Using a mix of pure silk and net in subtle hues, the five-piece capsule collection included a smoke grey sleeveless high- low intricately backless tunic paired with wide pants; a burnt coral short belted tunic with a net tasseled shawl-like overlay; a blue grey delicately embroidered kaftan; dress; a sparkly cool grey sheath gown and a soft coral silver -belted jumpsuit won with a complementing collared bell-sleeved opera coat.
