When talking about bridal makeup the first thing to keep in mind is the fact that bridal makeup is not about following trends, rather we beautify the classic look with a hint of trend. Classic rules when it comes to creating the perfect bridal look. The most sought after feature in bridal makeup is a timeless look that accentuates the femininity of the bride; a look that will still look fresh and gorgeous in photographs despite the number of years gone by.

Bridal makeup is all about traditional beauty with little or no drama focusing on the bride’s features. Heavily made up faces are a big no-no and so is big hair. Too much back combing and puffs are all styles you need to stay away from if you want to be an ethereal bride.

To share some tips on how to be the perfect bride, this week You! talks to celebrated beautician and makeup artist Mona J., “If the bridal outfit is bright make sure to keep the lipstick dark with kohled eyes and winged liner depending on the shape of eye. Shimmer is still in but glitter is out of fashion. A slight spark of shimmer on the eyes looks good and is sure to make you the centre of attention on your big day.”

Mona loves to play with colours, blending each of them beautifully and creating the perfect look. According to Mona, colours that are trending this season are green, brown, neutral shades, grey, red, maroon, mahogany, black (for eyes) and fuchsia, red, pink and maroon for lips. Here, Mona has shared three bridal looks for our readers...

Go light yet striking

“The first look is a lighter makeup look. We have used all shades of pink. It’s a very feminine look. The makeup is soft but the impact is very strong. The technique employed here is called cut crease which is best suited to girls who do not want heavy makeup but still want to look striking,” informs Mona.

Diverse and elegant

Diverse and elegantMona has created a beautiful look with impeccable hair. It is very tricky to create structured waves in bridal hair. Waves accentuate the face-cut beautifully.

Generally in a bridal look, hair let loose ends up looking messy but here the beautician has created a perfect look for the modern bride who wants to look jazzy on her big day.

So if you are someone who likes to keep everything simple and subtle, going all simple yet elegant will be your perfect bridal style.

What is better than going for peaches and blush pinks for that fresh and subtle bridal look?

Timeless beauty

Traditional makeup is preferred by many brides now also. Most of them have a simple and most traditional bridal look planned for their big and special wedding day.

Modern chic is light yet striking

“The second makeup look is classic and traditional. Sienna matte lipstick has been teamed with Egyptian eyes enhanced with a touch of glittery gold and smoky effect,” shares Mona. This makeup look is exactly what a traditional bride desires – slightly heavy with a bright red pout matching the red bridal jora and heavily kohled eyes with a gentle smattering of gold.

As far as hair is concerned, it is too not overly done with a centre parting and caught in a tight chignon at the back. There is not much drama in the hair and guess what, the result is timeless beauty.

Diversity at its best

Nowadays brides carry a flair that inspires many brides to go for that style. If you are one of them, then definitely go for that bridal look with soft coloured outfits and beautiful bridal makeup.

Red, a timeless tradition...

When asked Mona about how to go about this look, she suggests, “The third makeup look is quite versatile and can see you through different occasions – engagement, Valima or Nikkah.

It is a beautiful look bordering on modern and is ideal for any of these three occasions. I have opted for green and silver eyes with maroonish-brown lips which highlight the mint green dress”.

The hair has been gently swept back with a few gentle strands framing the face lending the bride a soft look.
