Feedback

Hello Ed,

‘The fat factor’ (Oct 28) by Shaza Khalid was an informative article. Though we all have studied about good and bad fats in school and colleges, we need constant revisions to retain the knowledge.

The article made me think about how watching recipes and food videos on social media, especially Instagram, has negatively affected our eating habits. I have noticed that people use crazy amounts of cheese in their recipes; another thing I don’t like watching is videos of people smearing bone marrow on their toasts and eating biryani with bone marrow! This type of content somehow makes consuming fat seem normal, and that is not healthy for us.

Please interview a nutritionist and talk about this issue as well. I hope they will share some useful tips on how young people can cope up with social media pressure.

Hi Editor,

I have recently come across Us magazine, and I was excited to see that it has a separate page for poems which are sent by young poets. I am a literature student and love to write poems in my spare time. I would like to share my poems with Us readers. I mostly write about how nature brings peace to our hearts and there are also poems that I have written on my personal experiences.

How can I send my poems for publication? And are there any specific guidelines that I should follow?

Moiz Jawaid, Peshawar

Hey Moiz, thanks for your feedback. We would love to read your poems. Please send them to us.mag@thenews.com.pk. There are no specific guidelines regarding any themes or style to follow but since Us is a magazine for the youth, we do not accept poems that are meant for children.

Dear Eddy,

I would like to appreciate Us magazine for publishing stories on mental health. Farah Tiwana’s article ‘Understanding unhelpful thoughts’ (Oct 28) was a great read and I loved how clearly she talked about different types of maladaptive thinking patterns. I have observed that people mostly magnify negative pattern of thinking. Instead of focusing on the positive aspects and celebrating our little wins, we choose to think about things that went wrong.

We must all understand the importance of positive thinking in order to live a happy life. Farah Tiwana, great story!

Reflection

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W) said, “When the call for prayer is made, Satan takes to his heels passing wind so that he may not hear the Adhan and when the call is finished he comes back, and when the Iqama is pronounced, Satan again takes to his heels, and when the Iqama is finished he comes back again and tries to interfere with the person and his thoughts and say, “Remember this and that (which he has not thought of before the prayer)”, till the praying person forgets how much he has prayed. If anyone of you does not remember whether he has offered three or four rak`at then he should perform two prostrations of Sahu while sitting.
