Theatre production Naach Na Jaanay, a prequel to Aangan Terha by Anwar Maqsood, premiered in Karachi earlier this year, followed by a successful run in Islamabad that recently came to an end. The play, that marks the most recent collaboration between director Dawar Mehmood and playwright Anwar Maqsood is all set to open in Lahore tonight.

However, Yasir Hussain, who featured as the protagonist Akbar during the Karachi and Islamabad spell, will not be performing in Lahore, according to Dawar.

“Yasir Hussain will not be a part of the Lahore run,” Dawar Mehmood told Instep, adding that Yasir had to leave for a shoot. “Hassan Raza will be playing Akbar in Lahore and will be completing the play. He also performed on the last three days in Islamabad and he was fantastic.”

Theatre actor Hassan Raza has some commendable performances to his credit; he essayed the role of Ranjha opposite Sanam Saeed in Zain Ahmed’s Heer Ranjha while he also essayed the protagonist opposite Saman Ansari in Jasoosi Duniya last year.

The director also informed that there aren’t any other major changes in the play that will be staged from August 21 till August 31 at the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore. After this, he will be working on his next theatre play which he will announce soon. Watch this space for details on his upcoming project.
