Pakistan’s film industry is still a small place, with most of its players being close friends. So it’s no surprise that they all turn up for film premieres to watch the film and support its cast and crew. The most recent example was the premiere (Karachi and Lahore) of this year’s first release, Parchi that was a particularly star studded affair with several celebrities in attendance. Among all those who turned up at the Karachi premiere were the leading ladies of upcoming film Cake, who were there to support their friends and possibly to check out the competition. We caught up with these actors to know more about Cake, the film.

“It’s a very different film; we haven’t seen anything like this in Pakistan before,” Aamina Sheikh told Instep. “It has everything in it and I think everyone will be able to relate to it. The film has some kind of warm feeling to it.”

Serving as a celebrity judge on Miss Veet 2017, Sheikh is currently playing the protagonist in drama serials Khudgarz and Nibah. One episode down, Nibah stars her alongside Asif Raza Mir and Savera Nadeem. “For me, it only depends on the script when I decide to take up a project, whether it’s TV or film,” she informed.

Cake is expected to release in March this year and the character posters and teaser of the film have impressed almost everyone. We are eager to watch the film in cinemas because of its unique treatment of plot and characters.

Sanam Saeed, who was also present at the event, revealed, “Cake is a serious emotional film. It’s a completely different genre and I hope people like it.”

Responding to what people should look forward to in the film, Saeed said, “They should expect a new genre, great script, great storytelling, great dialogues and acting.”

Aside from Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Saeed, Cake also stars Adnan Malik in a key role while it has been directed by debutant Asim Abbasi. Fingers crossed.
