Realizing the value of such initiatives, the Arts Council arranged the recently concluded Karachi Theatre Festival, in which young and experienced directors presented their plays. Coming up next is Pakistan Calling.
Giving budding filmmakers a chance to come to the fore and celebrate cinematic creativity, the Pakistan Calling Film Festival aims to bring together young and independent Pakistani and international filmmakers. Scheduled to take place from November 26 to November 27 in Karachi, the festival program includes film screenings, panel discussions as well as workshops.
“We have an exciting program of films made by Pakistani and international filmmakers juried by renowned film makers Jamil Dehlavi and Jami Mahmood,” states the official website. “In addition, we have panels and workshops with well known professionals from the industry.”
The festival will open with the screening of Humad Nisar’s Child (short fiction) and will conclude with an award ceremony followed by a musical performance by Quaid and Sharjeel from Sounds of Kolachi. The two-day event will take place at Rangoonwala Centre.
