Houston Muslims, other communities gather at Eid dinner
HOUSTON: Deanea LeFlore, Chief of Protocol, Mayors office of Trade & International Affairs, applauded Sister Cities and other Muslim Community organizations for playing key role in bringing different communities together to interact and share their culture and religious beliefs.

HOUSTON: Deanea LeFlore, Chief of Protocol, Mayors office of Trade & International Affairs, applauded Sister Cities and other Muslim Community organizations for playing key role in bringing different communities together to interact and share their culture and religious beliefs.
She was speaking at the “Appreciation & Eid Dinner” organized by Abu Dhabi, Baku, Basrah, Istanbul & Karachi Sister City Association along with Islamic Society of Greater Houston and all other collaborating organizations.
The event was attended by many Muslims as well as other faith leaders in a large number.
The program was moderated by Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President Houston Karachi Sister City Association. He highlighted the success story of the Houston Iftar and the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr in the Muslim faith and recognized all the sponsors.
Sunil Sharma, President Houston Abu Dhabi Sister City Association, welcomed the guests and praised the committee’s efforts specially the hard work and dedication by the Iftar Coordinator, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Aftab Ghesani, President of His Highness the Aga Khan Council for the Southwestern United States, and Ruhi Ozgel, Houston Istanbul Sister City Association.
At the dinner, Deanea LeFlore, Chief of Protocol, Mayors office of Trade & International Affairs presented an Appreciation Award for Generous Support to S.Javaid Anwar, an Appreciation Award for Assistance and Support to M.J. Khan, and an Appreciation Award for outstanding Coordination and tireless work towards The Houston Iftar Since 2011 to Muhammad Saeed Sheikh. All awards were presented on behalf of Mayor Annise Parker.

Khan, President of ISGH, Dr. Yaqoob Sheikh of APPNA foundation, Murad Ajani,Mian Nazeer, President of PAGH,Tariq Khan, IlyasChoudry, Shamim Syed, Mahmood Ahmed, Najam Sheikh, JamilSiddiqui, Mehmet Okumus, SajidHusian, Akhtar Abdullah, Wahid Lala, Zafar Khan, Shah Haleem, Khaled Khan,Shahid Bilal and many others.
