Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke releases unseen images of life-threatening brain surgery
Emilia Clarke shared how she suffered from two brain aneurysms while filming hit HBO drama 'Game of Thrones' and portraying the character of Daenerys Targaryen.
Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke has taken the internet by storm after she released astonishing pictures from a life threatening brain surgery as she suffered a brain aneurysm in 2011.
The famed actress was only 24 years old when she faced such a deadly situation.
Earlier this year, Emilia shared how she suffered from two brain aneurysms while filming hit HBO drama 'Game of Thrones' and portraying the character of Daenerys Targaryen.
While opening up about the dark places Emilia had gone on to after undergoing the surgery, the 32-year-old actress revealed images from her hospital stay.
Emilia said that she was rushed into urgent surgery in 2011 after being diagnosed with a subarachnoid haemorrhage — a stroke that one-third of patients can die from.
Speaking about the repercussions the surgery had on not just her physical health but mental well-being, Emilia said: "The first time it was difficult, with the second one I found it much harder to stay optimistic. (I coped with it as a) a day-to-day thing. I definitely went through a period of being... down - putting it mildly."
The photographs showcase Emilia lying on a hospital bed holding her phone, with the red dragon sigil for House Targaryen visible on the back of her phone case.
In another image, the actress is looking at the camera with a medical tube attached to her head.
Further revealing the ordeal of suffering from the ailment, Emilia said that when a part of your brain is starved of blood for more than a minute, it dies, which is what happened to her after her second aneurysm.
