OAKLAND, California: After the successful invention of lie detectors, scientists at the University of California have now developed a machine that can possibly read human mind, can recognise thought patterns and display them as text on a screen.
The machine that can be worn on the head has shown 90% accuracy in performance. This is far more than the previous machines invented that claim to be able to read human brain.
According to scientists, the machine can display words it hasn’t even heard before and this can be used to help people who can’t speak.
“Given the performance exhibited by [the machine] in this work and its capacity for expansion, we are confident in its ability to serve as a platform for the proposed speech prosthetic device,” stated David Moses, the head of the study.
The downside of the device, however, is that it may cause problems if it accidentally reveals secrets, critics fear.
