Over four hundred schools in England received hoax e-mails on Monday that threatened to detonate bombs if cash isn’t paid to them.
According to Humberside police, more than 400 schools and colleges received the bomb hoax. They were told that a bomb was placed in the premises of the schools and that if cash is not paid then the bomb will be detonated. Schools were immediately evacuated. The emails came in from US and were sent to various schools located in London, Yorkshire, Humberside, Northumbria, Suffolk and Essex.
In a statement, the Northumbria Police said, “Schools have been visited by police to reassure them that the incident is being treated as hoax and address any concerns.”
Police officers visited schools to assure the staff and administration that all their complaints and calls were being treated seriously and that a full-fledge investigation was being directed toward the origin of emails.
