The 28-storey Capital Plaza Tower in Kentucky’s capital city of Frankfort had gathered a large crowd to watch the tallest building of the state, go down in shambles. It had been imploded to make way for the 385,500 square-foot and 1,500 employee office building with a 1,206 space parking construction.
FRANKFORT: The tallest building in US state Kentucky was in shambles in a matter of seconds after a controlled implosion had taken place on Sunday, gathering numerous people around to watch the breakdown take place.
The 28-storey Capital Plaza Tower in Kentucky’s capital city of Frankfort had gathered a large crowd to watch the tallest building of the state, go down in shambles. It had been imploded to make way for the 385,500 square-foot and 1,500 employee office building with a 1,206 space parking construction.
The demolished building had been open since its construction in 1972 up until 2016.
President of the controlled demolition incorporated, Mark Loizeaux has stated regarding the historical moment that: “From the time you hear the first explosion nothing is going to happen for about the first six seconds or so. Then I think you will have something to take pictures of”.
