MUMBAI: Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was hospitalized on Tuesday, after a fever and leg swelling caused health complications for the star of Devdas.
According to details, the actor was taken to Mumbai's famous Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday after his wife noticed that he was suffering from a fever and his leg had swollen.
"I was anyway planning to take him for a routine check-up, but the swelling alarmed me. He was also complaining of cold and cough. I don’t ignore anything even remotely suspicious when it comes to Dilip saab’s health," said his wife, Saira Banu.
His wife stated that Dilip was quite comfortable with the medical team at Lilavati Hospital and was said to be stable.
"The doctors are examining him; he’s under observation. He’s very comfortable with the team here. I just hope there is nothing serious. Inshallah, I will take him home before his birthday on Sunday," she added.
Dilip Kumar had been hospitalized earlier this year after he had suffered from a fever. Bollywood heavyweights such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, all consider Dilip Kumar as their idols.
Dilip Kumar has starred in several box office blockbusters such as Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Naya Daur and Madhumati. The last film he starred in was Qila, in 1998.
