'Jerry Maguire' star makes rare appearance after 30 years

Jonathan Lipnicki stepped back into the spotlight three decades after winning over audiences as the adorable glasses-wearing child star Jerry Maguire.

The former child star made red carpet appearance at the premiere of Primetime in Los Angeles on September 23. At the red carpet, he posed alongside director Lance Oppenheim.

Lipnicki, who made his acting debut at just 5 years old in the 1996 Tom Cruise and Renée Zellweger movie, has taken on a dramatically darker role for his latest project. The film follows a character inspired by Chris Hansen and the To Catch a Predator television segment, with Robert Pattinson portraying the central figure.

He plays the character known as Crazyfrog73, who finds himself caught in a compromising situation after pursuing a decoy played by Skyler Gisondo.

Notably, he spoke about the role in an interview with The Hollywood Reported and said that actors “pray for dark material” and said taking on the part required him to be courageous enough to embrace uncomfortable material.

Jonathan Lipnicki became widely known following Jerry Maguire and went on to appear in films including Stuart Little, The Little Vampire and Like Mike.
