Princess Diana's former chef speaks out over Earl Spencer 'moneymaking spiteful book'

Princess Diana’s former chef Darren McGrady has broken his silence over Earl Spencer’s ‘moneymaking spiteful book’ amid row with King Charles.

Taking to Instagram, Darren shared a photo of Spencer and revealed, “I bumped into Earl Spencer a few weeks ago when I was at Althorp but couldn’t bring myself to speak to him (despite cooking for him several times when he could he bothered to come to Kensington Palace for lunch with the Princess.)

“Had I know then what he planned to spew in his moneymaking spiteful book I would have told him how disgusted his sister would have been.”

Darren McGrady was Princes Diana’s personal chef from 1993 until she died in 1997.

Before that, he was personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II.

In an interview with USA TODAY, McGrady recalled Princes Diana’s interest in healthy eating, meals with her sons, Prince William and Harry, and how she inspired him to do charity work.

The former royal chef’s remarks came hours after Earl Spencer told the BBC exclusively that he is "telling the truth" about a phone call with King Charles in the days after his sister's death.

Earl Spencer claims in the new book the then-Prince of Wales said, "we'll forget her soon enough" during an argument over whether Princes William and Harry should walk in Diana's funeral procession.

Meanwhile, Palace, on behalf of the monarch, has said the King was "mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss".
