Liam Neeson reveals fatherhood changed the way he ties his ‘bootlaces’
Liam Neeson gets candid about fatherhood
Liam Neeson revealed that becoming a father changed “everything.”
Liam is starring as Larry in the newly released action thriller, The Fix.
It is worth noting that Liam has two sons, Michael Richardson and Daniel Richardson, with his late wife, Natasha Richardson, who died after a skiing accident in 2009.
In an interview with People Magazine, Liam reflected on his journey as a father, saying, “I’m a father. I have two boys, 30 and 31 years of age, Irish twins.”
He went on to say, “I know my acting, forgive me for saying it, has improved by the fact that I’m a father. Everything, even tying my bootlaces has changed the day I became a father. Don’t ask me why, I do it the same way, but it’s changed in some way.”
Looking back at the time when he had a memorable conversation about fatherhood with his longtime friend Gabriel Byrne, Liam revealed, “Gabriel and I have been friends for many years. I was watching his little boy, this was many years ago, Jack, running around a swimming pool.”
“I said, and I wasn’t married, wasn’t a father at the time. I said, ‘Gabriel, what’s that like?’ He said, ‘You’ll realize your place in the world when he or she’s born.’ And he was absolutely right. Something just changed for me, in a great way, you know, and almost an indefinable way, by the fact that you become a father,” Liam added.
Noting, “Still thinking about it, 30 years on.”
“‘Cause they’re always your kids, always,” he further noted.
It is pertinent to mention that The Fix has already hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
