George Clooney's 'devastating' remarks come to light ahead of 2028 US elections

George Clooney has dismissed any possibility of him running for the United States presidency.

On Friday, September 4, the 65-year-old American actor and filmmaker attended an event in Venice, where he stated that he finds himself too old to rule his country as president.

Voicing his thoughts, Clooney, a huge supporter and donor for the Democratic Party, suggested that “young voices” should be given more chances rather than those who have previously been tried and tested.

The Batman and Robin star said, "I am 65 years old, and I think that we need some young voices that are coming up with new ideas and some new thoughts.”

"I would be more than excited to support anyone but not people who are my age or older. I think we need to get some younger people in,” he stated.

Notably, Clooney asked the former president of the United States, Joe Biden, 81, to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race because of his advanced age in his New York Times op-ed.

Alluding to a fundraiser with Biden, the Oscar winner penned, "It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe 'big f****** deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020.”

"He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate (in June 2024),” Clooney wrote.

It is confirmed that the ER actor will not be in the presidential run because he always believed in asking questions and “the first people that authoritarians tried to shut down are not politicians. They're journalists who ask questions.”

In his speech at the opening night of the Venice Film Festival earlier this week, he said, "They're the artists who refuse simple answers; the filmmakers, writers, actors, and musicians who insist that someone you never met is deserving of your empathy.

“Stories are always dangerous to people who peddle in fear, the people who are afraid of books and music and stories are never the heroes in history,” George Clooney added, bashing those ruling the country.
