Dolly Parton’s niece remembers their last time together

Dolly Parton received an emotional tribute from her niece.

Rebecca Ann Seaver, Dolly's niece shared a series of pictures on August 28 on her official Instagram account, in which Rebecca can be seen taking a road trip with her son.

While the caption carries a long emotional note, “We didn’t know what the week held for us, but we know now that our angels had a plan all along,” Rebecca wrote.

As the news of her aunt’s death reaches, the road trip has taken a deeper meaning, Rebecca said, “We are on a special mission, and even though we feel the grief in our hearts along the way, we have found the resolve to stay the course. The way she intended when we saw her for our birthdays, just a few weeks ago.”

“What we didn’t know then was that it would be the last time,” Rebecca added.

She further reflected on the significant role which Dolly played in her son Leroy’s education, saying, “Leroy’s education is of the utmost importance to all of us. Especially to his Nana and his Gigi. I am so grateful for those sacred moments together.”

Speaking about the bittersweet moments that came along with the journey and the memories of her late aunt, Rebecca wrote, “We have witnessed immaculate beauty on these highways, the kind that only shows itself when your heart is cracked wide open.”

Adding, “We laughed, we cried, sometimes in the same breath, and we remembered the beautiful moments we shared with her on those same roads, years earlier. We thought about all the miles she put on I-40 through her life. The grief and the gratitude rode together in that car, mile after mile, and somehow that was enough.”

In the end, Rebecca addressed her son in an emotional message, believing that Dolly would remain by his side: “I’ll be headed home to Tennessee in a couple days after you’re settled in your new dorm.”

“I’ll have a Grand Canyon in my heart, but I know you’ll have your guardian angel here by your side every step of the way. Just don’t drive faster than her butterfly wings can carry her!” the message concluded.

It is pertinent to mention that Dolly Parton died at the age of 80 while fighting cancer.
