Dolly Parton died before fulfilling her 100th birthday wish

With Dolly Parton's sorrowful death at 80, she left many admirers mourning and a wish unfulfilled.

Indeed, a heartbreaking one, but the country musician recorded a track over a decade ago titled My Place in History.

As the name suggests, the late singer sought for the song to become a history by locking it away in a box with the track's CD and a CD player — only to open the lock on her 100th birthday in 2046.

With global average life expectancy near 74, it wasn't surprising that Parton flirted with the possibility of not living until 2046.

In her book Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, she joked, "I don't know if I want to live to be 100 or not. But you never know. I might, and if I do, I'm going to be at that opening."

But Dream Box did not hold only Parton's song but also a piece of porch from her childhood home, making the chestnut a strong connection to her roots and music.

With the singer dying twenty years before her planned box opening, the plan is expected to proceed without her.

Meanwhile, her nephew Brian Seaver announced her death through a video message posted on her Instagram.

“My name is Brian Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next."

He continued, “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality."

"As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it til now."

“Rest in peace, Aunt Dolly — Aunt, Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you,” he said at the end of the message.
