Marvel's biggest hit is being re-released as Avengers: Endgame Encore, and it will connect to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

So it is not a simple re-release, but the question is how much fresh footage it will include.

Endgame is already 181 minutes long, and to add the Doomsday exclusive look, reports say the runtime will stretch to 185 minutes.

Previously, Joe Russo, co-director of the Marvel forthcoming tentpole, said, "It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame."

Back to Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. will step into the iconic villain Dr. Doom.

But recasting him in such a pivotal character must have been quite a choice.

Hearing from Kevin Feige, boss of Marvel, he previously said, "At the time, [Downey] was on his way to winning the Academy Award for Oppenheimer and there was every story about 'the greatest actor in the world.'"

"We thought, 'This could be it. Let's do it,'" he said, adding, "It's our universe. It's a multiverse."

"We can do whatever the heck we want. He played the most iconic hero. Let's have him play the most iconic villain."

Avengers: Endgame Encore hits cinemas on Sept. 25.
