Martha Stewart's Meghan Markle story gets pushback from insider
Host sets record straight on Martha Stewart's version of Meghan Markle dinner
The dinner host has spoken up after Martha Stewart shared her account of the event where Meghan Markle was also in attendance.
Stewart, 85, said in a new interview that Markle, 45, was gossiping at a dinner party in California about her latest royal visit.
“I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California,” Stewart told People in an interview published Wednesday.
Stewart said she only spoke a few words to Markle but believed the Duchess of Sussex was discussing the trip with others.
“I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it,” Stewart added of Markle.
However, the dinner party host has denied the claim, saying they sat right next to Markle and that she only mentioned her family had a great time in Europe, without sharing more details.
“I sat next to Meghan at the dinner party, and this account of what happened is simply untrue,” the source told People, adding, “Meghan didn’t talk about her European vacation other than to say the family had a great time.”
The host added that Markle has always admired Stewart and enjoyed briefly meeting her. “Meghan has always been a fan of Martha’s and enjoyed getting to meet her briefly at the dinner,” the source added.
Markle and Prince Harry recently reunited with King Charles, marking the first time the king saw his grandchildren, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet, in person since 2022. The meeting took place at Highgrove House, the king's countryside home.
In the same interview, Stewart also shared her two cents on Markle's Netflix cooking and lifestyle show.
“If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
Stewart has spoken about Markle's lifestyle brand before as well. Last year, she said she doesn't know Markle well but hopes she truly understands the subjects she talks about, since being genuine and knowledgeable matters a lot to her.
Stewart also met King Charles in person back in April, when they both attended a charity event in New York City.
