Conor McGregor reveals UFC comeback plans after successful knee surgery

Conor McGregor has issued a fresh update regarding his comeback after successful knee-surgery in a recent video post.

McGregor had a shocking knee injury in July when he was diagnosed with two tears in his knee, meniscus and ACL after the fierce fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329. He underwent his fifth career surgery to repair a torn ACL as it takes surgery and a year to recover.

Taking to X, the Irishman wrote, “Surgery done. Knee repaired. The doubters can keep talking. I didn’t run from the pain. I walked straight into it.”

McGregor continued, “Now the real work begins. Comeback season starts now. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just the will to rise again.”

“I am on the road to recovery. That should tell you everything you need to know about my mindset. Straight into surgery. Knee repaired. And on the road [to recovery]. Let’s go.”

The 38-year-old is determined to move forward with his recovery by using several MMA legends as motivation for his eventual comeback.

“I want to give a shout out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs. Don’t know if he returned after his second ACL, but he’s doing backflips and his movement is still stellar. Other notables in other sports. The NFL, Tom Brady’s done it, Aaron Peters done it,” he added.

McGregor’s fight with Holloway was his first since his broken leg. It is now expected that the UFC fighter will not return to the arena before next summer.
