Ontario woman missing: Family joins search for Kayla Boisvert after disappearance at BC festival

The family of Kayla Boisvert, a 28-year-old Ontario paramedic, has travelled to British Columbia to help search for her after she disappeared during the Shambhala Music Festival near Salmo.

According to CTV News, Boisvert was last seen at the festival at 2:15 AM on 27 July. Police later confirmed a sighting of her at around 8:30 PM on 29 July, south of the community.

Her twin sister, Diana Boisvert-Aziable, said Kayla had been active on social media throughout the weekend before making two unanswered phone calls at about 2:00 AM.

"I kind of woke up in a panic and was like, 'No, this is weird.’ Kayla usually would call me back by then,” Diana told CTV News.

The family reported her missing to the RCMP on 28 July after losing contact.

In a statement to CTV News, Sgt. Vanessa Munn said: "RCMP are working closely with the Shambhala Music Festival organizers in efforts to locate Kayla."

She added that "search and rescue personnel were on site yesterday and are anticipated to return today to support ongoing search efforts."

According to CTV News, the family has travelled from Ontario to assist with the search and has closed a fundraising campaign after raising money for travel costs.

Any remaining donations will be given to the local search and rescue organisation.
