Calgary police find body believed to be of missing 11-year-old boy Parker

Calgary police say search teams have found the body of a child believed to be Parker, the 11-year-old boy who disappeared nearly two weeks ago.

According to CBC News, the discovery followed a tip from a member of the public, who reported finding clothing believed to match what Parker was wearing when he went missing.

Calgary Police Chief Katie McLellan said: "Today is an incredibly difficult day. It is with profound sadness that I can confirm that we have found the body of a small child which we believe to be Parker."

"On Tuesday, we received information from a member of the public who located evidence consistent with clothing Parker was last known to be wearing. Search teams were deployed and as a result of those efforts the body of a small child has been located," she added

Parker, who was autistic, disappeared on 16 July from his day home in Calgary's Thorncliffe neighbourhood. He was last seen between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM, according to CBC News.

Police had carried out extensive searches before narrowing their efforts to specific leads earlier this week.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and have not formally identified the child.
