U.S. President Donald Trump did indeed drop a massive hint leaning toward an Argentina victory for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

Speaking directly to Fox Sports from MetLife Stadium, Trump repeatedly used the phrase "it's very hard to bet against Messi" when asked to evaluate the final showdown against Spain.

During a pre-match interview right before kickoff at MetLife Stadium, President Donald Trump stopped short of making an official, explicit score prediction, but heavily tipped Argentina to retain their title due to the brilliance of Lionel Messi.

Rather than giving a definitive side-versus-side winner, Trump focused entirely on the impact of Argentina's captain, declaring that the wizardry of the No. 10 makes a victory for La Albiceleste the most likely outcome.

Trump recounted watching Argentina's semifinal win over England, specifically highlighting Messi's game-winning assist to Lautaro Martínez.

"I watched that pass—I guess you'd call it a pass—that was exactly perfect," Trump remarked. "I watched also just before that the way that he got away from the defender. He was very well defended. All of a sudden he's standing by himself... It's just hard to bet against Messi."
