Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle ‘awkward’ turned ‘something bigger’ claims Prince Harry
Prince Harry explained in his memoir, ‘Spare’ how a little ‘awkward’ moment was exaggerated
Prince Harry addressed rumors of a feud between his wife, Meghan Markle and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who is the wife of his brother, Prince William.
In his explosive memoir, Spare, he detailed how the ladies disagreed over ill-fitting bridesmaid dresses and eventually the couples ceased using the same comms personnel inside the palace.
There's one particular "awkward moment" over a borrowed lip gloss that hinted at the tensions between them.
In the book, he wrote, "All this came on the heels of an awkward moment backstage. Meg asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss. An American thing. Meg forgot hers, worried she needed some, and turned to Kate for help. Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube. Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips.”
"Kate grimaced. Small clash of styles, maybe? Something we should’ve been able to laugh about soon after. But it left a little mark. And then the press sensed something was up and tried to turn it into something bigger. Here we go, I thought sorrowfully,” Harry added.
Even though the relationship between the two of them started so well, even being referred to as the "fab four" while attending joint engagements.
After Harry and Meghan's exciting engagement news in 2017, both William and Kate expressed their happiness. It seemed as though they were welcoming Meghan with open arms and pleased that Harry had found “the one.”
In a joint statement with her husband, Prince William, Kate said, "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."
"William and I are absolutely thrilled. It's such exciting news. It's a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment,” Kate later told the reporters of Harry’s engagement to Meghan.
Then, fast forward to news of Meghan's first pregnancy with Prince Archie in 2018, Princess Kate was again very quick to express her joy. "It's such a special time to have little kiddies. And a cousin for George and Charlotte, as well, and Louis. It'll be really special," she told the press.
But now, it appears the in-laws do not speak at all, as their husbands have had an estranged relationship over the past few years, living in different countries.
Prince Harry had given explosive interviews and written a tell-all book but he has said that he hopes for a reconciliation with his family.
