Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have long spoken out against social media trolling and harassment, yet they are still targeted relentlessly by detractors.

Hours after their much-awaited reunion with King Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became the subject of fake news on social media, with some users sharing videos of the couple with misleading captions.

Once such video appeared recently with the claim, “Harry and Meghan BOOED as they arrive for a private family gathering in Gloucestershire.”.

The clip of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelling in a car has garnered nearly half a million views on X.

However, the video is eight years old. It shows the royal couple’s wedding rehearsal and does not show Harry and Meghan being booed by onlookers.

Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla met Charles, Prince Harry, Meghan and their two children on Friday at Highgrove estate in western England on Friday.

It was Charles' first meeting with his grandchildren Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, since 2022.

Harry has visited Britain just once or twice a year since he moved to the U.S. with Meghan and their children, after a high-profile falling out with his father and his elder brother, Prince William.

The palace source described the meeting as a private family occasion and said no pictures, video or further details would be released.

Harry had appeared to be in a dispute with Buckingham Palace over security arrangements and where he would stay, before he arrived for five days of charity events and the judgment in a major privacy case he brought against British media.
