Six people were present in the private jet flying from Los Cabos International Airport, Mexico, to Austin, Texas
A private jet carrying 6 passengers met a deadly crash onto a Texas highway on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of one person and evoking a major emergency response.
According to the recent report, five people were also injured in the crash and were transported to local hospitals in stable condition.
The horrific incident was initially witnessed and captured by bystanders , including two individuals who recorded the aftermath.
Another video circulating on social media showed the plane flying at a low altitude before suddenly crashing on the opposite side of the highway. Soon after it crashed, the plane erupted in flames.
The plane struck at least one vehicle during landing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on the ground.
Five police officers were treated for smoke inhalation as they inhaled it during the rescue efforts.
The aircraft was traveling from Los Cabos International Airport, Mexico, to Austin, Texas.
Laredo, TX Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño said in a Wednesday morning statement that “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by the recent private jet crash.”
The investigation related to the cause of the crash is ongoing. However, the early reports showed that the aircraft was crashed due to a mechanical failure and fuel issues. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation with the help of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Treviño also acknowledged the importance of allowing investigators to do their jobs “before drawing any conclusions.”
“Aviation investigations take time, and it is important that we avoid speculation while the facts are being gathered,” he added.
