Perrie Edwards set to mark her happiest day with beau Alex
Perrie Edwards is set to the tie the knot with her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Perrie Edwards is finally set to marry her love after years of turmoil.
The Little Mix singer is preparing to make her way down the aisle and say "I Do" to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in front of their loved ones after 10 years together.
Yet the path to true love has been rocky for Perrie, who famously had her heart broken by Zayn Malik when he ended their engagement “over text” in 2015.
Their relationship had been a rocky one, marred by numerous rumours of infidelity on Zayn's part, yet when he popped the question in 2013, Perrie believed she'd found her match.
Zayn has denied Perrie's claims he dumped her over text and blamed his young age for the breakup, claiming that then at 21, he “didn’t know anything about anything.”
For her part, Perrie recently claimed that there was an “overlap” when he moved on with girlfriend Gigi Hadid, saying it left her feeling: '"Oh s**t, they've left me for someone more beautiful than me, someone better than me."'
Appearing on the latest episode of Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast she branded heartbreak “the worst thing in the world,” adding, “You feel abandoned and you don't feel good enough and you feel like you've been left for something better or whatever it is.”
She went on to reveal that she suffered from depression and “serious breakdowns” in the aftermath of the split.
To add insult to injury, Zayn later claimed that he'd “never been in love.”
Yet it was clearly all meant to be for Perrie, who went on to find Alex on celebrity dating app Raya, with pair instantly hitting it off.
Five years later the couple got engaged and in 2021 they welcomed their first child, son Axel, followed by daughter Alanis in January of this year.
The relationship also helped her heal from the traumatic end to her romance with Zayn.
Speaking about breakups, the Sweet Melody singer said she holds no grudges, explaining, “It’s not that anyone’s to blame in the situation, so to speak, but when you are young, you do just think that idea of love is normal and it’s not. And you don’t realise that until you step away from it and then you experience something different.”
Of Alex, Perrie Edwards said how sure she was of him and stated, “It’s safety, it’s calm. It’s being able to approach that person with anything and know that they’ll support you. They’ve always got your back. It’s a healthy love and I can’t explain it. It just feels nice.”
