Michelle Pfeiffer recalls her first date with now-husband David E. Kelly
Michelle Pfeiffer has been married to her husband, David E. Kelly since 1993
Michelle Pfeiffer recently revealed that she had almost said no to a blind date with her now-husband, David E. Kelly.
For those unaware, Kelly is the second husband of Pfeiffer, whom she has been married to since November 1993, and they welcomed two children together: Claudia Rose and John Henry. Her first marriage was to Peter Horton, whom she was married to from 1981 to 1988. The couple did not share any children together.
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine at The Madison FYC event on May 30, the 68-year-old American actress and producer opened up about how she was on the verge of losing Kelly.
Calling to mind, she shared, “I had kind of sworn off being a blind date and it was a blind date. I found out at the very last minute that my best friend, who had actually set up the blind date, had never met him. I mean, literally, this was right before I was walking out the door. I was like, ‘I'm not coming.’”
The Batman Returns star then thought of giving it a chance, but the twist came when she made her blind date “a group date” at Santa Monica's Chez Jay in January 1993, which did not turn out to be more of an outing than a meetup of a future Hollywood power couple.
“I showed up, and David is introverted. I'm a little shy socially, so we didn't talk much. In fact, when we started really dating, his agent said, ‘He talks,' because I guess I'm maybe known for that,” Michelle Pfeiffer recalled.
