Adobe is optimising Photoshop, Premiere, and Substance 3D to run natively on Nvidia's new RTX Spark superchip, with the companies promising up to 2x faster performance across AI-powered editing, colour correction, effects, and rendering.

Updates to all three applications are expected to begin rolling out later in 2026, following a broader strategic partnership between Adobe and Nvidia announced in March.

Premiere gets a whole new video pipeline featuring RTX Spark’s unified memory architecture, Blackwell GPU, and TensorRT.

In other words, there will be increased performance in real-time when editing or grading the colours, faster rendering for complicated timelines with lots of effects applied, and direct AI inference using a GPU without moving data along other processing paths.

Such functionality as Generative Extend, which allows extending clips’ edges using models developed by Adobe Firefly, should definitely get an acceleration boost due to this update.

Photoshop's changes go deeper than a performance patch. Adobe describes the application's architecture as being "reimagined" with GPU-accelerated compositing at its core, a meaningful shift for a product whose pipeline still has roots in CPU-first design decisions made decades ago.

The updates include live filter previews, additional HDR compatibility features, and improved capabilities for painting using oils and watercolours using an AI-native pipeline that is accelerated using TensorRT technology. Generative Fill, which is currently the most-used AI function in Photoshop, will perform faster when processing regular and large-canvas edits.

Substance 3D Painter and Stager will be able to use the RTX Spark engine, making it easier for game artists, product visualisation experts, and VFX artists working with complex geometry to improve their texturing and scene design workflow.

In addition to the hardware optimisations, Adobe will add agentic AI functionalities in Premiere and Photoshop, enabling customers to instruct AI assistants in both programmes to execute part of the editing or design tasks in a cooperative fashion.
