Dame Helen Mirren suffers hate in disturbing UK incident
Dame Helen Mirren was confronted by a man who hurled abuse at her
Dame Helen Mirren was accosted on a London street by a pro-Palestine individual who hurled offensive abuse at her.
The disturbing incident was filmed and initially shared by an anonymous account named Anti-Fascist Action U.K, where it can be seen she was labelled an "evil Zionist b***h."
Helen was confronted while walking through Tower Hill in East London with her husband, Taylor Hackford.
Initially, Dame Helen responded politely, greeting the man and asking after his health. However, the delightful conversation quickly soured as the pro-Palestine individual launched into a hostile tirade targeting the Oscar-winning actress's stance on Israel.
The individual declared, "And there is Helen Mirren the avowed Zionist. You said Israel should last forever because of the Holocaust. And she was very happy the Palestinians houses were gone. You are an evil Zionist b***h. And you [Hackford] as well, f**k you as well."
Tensions heightened further as Hackford sternly told the man to "f**k off" and stop harassing them.
According to the Mirror, while Dame Helen has no Jewish or Israeli heritage, she has consistently shown support for Israel.
Dame Helen's ties to Israel date back to 1967, in the aftermath of the Six Day War, when she worked as a volunteer at Kibbutz HaOn alongside the Sea of Galilee and journeyed widely across the country.
Ever since, she has steadfastly supported Israel's right to exist and resisted cultural boycotts aimed at the nation, arguing that shutting out Israeli artists would be harmful.
