At least two wounded in Cambridge shooting near Memorial Drive

At least two people were injured after a gunman reportedly opened fire into traffic in Cambridge on Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Officials said the shooting happened near Memorial Drive and River Street at around 1:30 PM.
Emergency crews treated at least one person for a gunshot wound at the scene.
Aerial footage broadcast by WCVB showed police taking a suspect into custody shortly after the incident.
The footage also appeared to show a black Dodge sedan off the side of the road following an apparent crash connected to the shooting.
According to WCVB, a rifle was seen lying on the grass near the scene.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspect, possible motives or the condition of the injured person.
Maura Healey said there was no ongoing danger to the public following the incident.
In a statement, Healey urged residents to “avoid the area to allow public safety personnel to do their work.”
Police continue to investigate the shooting.
