Police issued 46 tickets and removed several unsafe vehicles from the road during a one-day traffic enforcement operation in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario.

South Simcoe Police said the blitz took place on April 30 at the Bob Fallis Arena and involved officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Transportation.

Authorities carried out 23 vehicle inspections during the operation and removed eight vehicles that did not meet provincial safety standards. Police said that figure is 35 percent higher than the provincial average.

Officers also removed two sets of licence plates during the enforcement effort.

According to police, the main offences involved unsafe tyres and brakes, improperly secured loads, drivers operating vehicles without the correct licence class and overweight vehicles.

The operation focused on improving road safety and identifying commercial and passenger vehicles that could pose a risk to other motorists.

Police did not release details about individual drivers or specific fines issued during the enforcement campaign.
