Alex Jimenez dropped by Bournemouth after social media controversy sparks club investigation
Alex Jimenez will not be included in Bournemouth’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Fulham, the club confirmed in a statement
Bournemouth have suspended defender Alex Jimenez while the club investigates social media posts involving the Spanish full-back.
The 21-year-old will not be included in Bournemouth’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Fulham, the club confirmed in a statement on Friday.
“AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Alex Jimenez,” the club said.
“The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated. As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow's Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
The club did not provide details about the content of the posts or the nature of the investigation.
Jimenez joined Bournemouth from Italian club AC Milan last summer on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent transfer in February.
The defender signed a long-term contract that runs until 2031.
He has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season and scored once during Bournemouth’s 3-2 home victory against Liverpool.
