Iran reviewing US proposal to end war as Trump warns of escalation if deal is rejected
Trump said Washington would resume strikes “at a much higher level and intensity” than before the ceasefire if negotiations fail
Iran is reviewing a proposal from the United States aimed at ending the more than two-month-long conflict, according to Iran’s foreign ministry.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran would assess the proposal and communicate its position through mediator Pakistan, as reported by the ISNA news agency.
The development comes amid renewed pressure from Donald Trump, who warned that the United States would intensify military action if Iran does not agree to a deal.
Earlier, Trump said Washington would resume strikes “at a much higher level and intensity” than before the ceasefire if negotiations fail.
He also suggested that direct talks between the two sides were not imminent.
Speaking to the New York Post, Trump said it was “too soon” to consider in-person negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
The proposed deal is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to end hostilities, which have disrupted global energy markets and heightened tensions across the region.
Officials have not disclosed details of the proposal, and it remains unclear how quickly Tehran will respond.
