Elon Musk gives viral boost to Ilhan Omar's 'World War Eleven' video
Elon Musk shares Ilhan Omar's video without context, giving it a viral boost
Elon Musk gave Ilhan Omar's viral video a remarkable reach when he shared it from his own X account.
The video clip circulating widely on social media shows Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar referring to World War II as “World War Eleven.”
After being reposted by Musk with an expressionless face emoji, the video has garnered more than 28 million views in less than 24 hours.
The video reposted by the billionaire was originally shared with the caption “World War Eleven. Yes, that was deadly."
However, Elon Musk did not take into account the fact that Omar's verbal slip was shared without context before giving it a wider reach.
In the January 2025 clip taken from a press conference, Omar said: “The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven.”
In the full, unedited video, Omar misspoke momentarily, saying “World War Eleven,” before immediately correcting herself.
Moments after, she clarified: “Oh—two, sorry.”
Elon Musk's X post has elicited hundreds of replies mocking the US lawmaker.
