Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert made an unexpected collab: Here's the story behind it
Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert had been, at best, frenemies
Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves had a beef. Now, the latter is collaborating with her once-frenemy on her upcoming album, Middle of Nowhere.
"We’ve come together after years of really, honestly, not being friends," the 37-year-old tells Variety.
Musgraves, in the interview, recalls scrolling through Instagram and seeing Lambert riding one of her horses. Then an idea came to her.
"I had this idea one day when I saw her on Instagram, riding one of her horses, and I thought, ‘Well, I guess we have two things in common: horses and divorces. ’"
She recounts, 'And I was like, "Wait, that’s a song."' Then I took it a step further: ‘What if I write it with her? What if it’s a duet?
Thinking out loud, Musgraves ultimately decided to reach out to Lambert, "F*** it, I’m going to reach out. ’"
"I hadn’t spoken to her in years and was like, ‘Hey, I have this idea. If anybody would get it, it would be you. We’ve had our shit over the years, but this would be really funny. ’"
And Miranda, in response, responded positively to her, "And she was like, ‘I’m down. ’"
In the meantime, Musgraces announced her Middle of Nowhere tour.
