Charlie Sheen shares his father Martin's reaction to his tell-all documentary
Charlie Sheen's tell-all documentary 'aka Charlie Sheen' consists of two parts
Charlie Sheen has finally lifted the lid on how his father Martin Sheen reacted to his film after watching and why his brother Emilio Estevez denied appearing in his film.
On Wednesday, April 22, the 60-year-old American actor attended a panel event for his two-part Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, where he revealed that his dad Martin “loved” his tell-all documentary.
Sheen recalled, “He was laughing, he was crying, he was so engaged and he comes up to me afterwards and says, 'I'm already in it. I'd much rather be young, handsome in this thing than this guy right now, you don't need this old guy in your movie,’” adding, “"I'm like, 'Well, beg to differ.'"
Andrew Renzi, the documentary’s director, stated that Emilio did not want to take the spotlight in his brother’s project about his life, so he decided to not appear in it.
Renzi quipped, "He wanted Charlie to have the project....It was just Charlie's moment and we were in it. He felt they were my stories to tell.”
According to the 41-year-old film director, Estevez avoided ruining the charm of stories that are already well-documented about Charlie with his decision.
"If I'm putting myself in their shoes without them saying this directly to me, this is their life that they've lived for a long time and there was probably going to be a whole bunch of crap that they just didn't want to have to sit there and have to talk about," Renzi explained.
It is pertinent to mention that aka Charli Sheen, a two-part documentary released on September 10, 2025, documents every aspect of the renowned actor’s life through the lens of family members, friends, and colleagues, such as Chris Tucker, his former drug dealer Marco, Denise Richards, Brooke Mueller, Sean Penn, Heidi Fleiss, Ramon Estevez, and Jon Cryer.
