Jeremy Jordan is putting his own spin on a classic role.

Currently starring as Bobby Darin in the Broadway production Just in Time, Jordan has stepped into the role following Jonathan Groff and Matthew Morrison.

While honoring what came before, he has also made a few personal adjustments related to costume choices.

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Jordan revealed he requested a different look for the musical number Splish Splash.

Reportedly, unlike previous performances that featured a more revealing swimsuit, Jordan opted for a vintage-style outfit.

"It actually might be my favorite costume that I've ever worn," he began.

"Listen, I'm 41, I'm not as cut as I used to be, so I'm a little bit self-conscious about that, and I just didn't want to add that element into it."

Instead of leaning into a more traditionally “sexy” performance, Jordan admitted to choosing a comedic angle that better suited his interpretation.

“My pitch was like, instead of getting sexy and doing a thirst trap on stage in a bathtub, what if I just went comedy?” he explained.

Before conclusion, he admitted, “So, we built one of those old-timey swimsuits. It's like a tank top into swim trunks. It's fantastic.”
