Ahead of Iceman, a nine-studio album by Drake, the Canadian rapper pulled off a wild stunt for fans in Toronto.

He placed a giant 25-foot ice block in the middle of the city, enticing thrill-seekers to find the release date hidden inside the towering structure.

It sparked a frenzy among his fans, who brought open flames and flammable liquids to melt the ice and find the treasure, which, in turn, threatened public safety.

Yet, this full-on desperation to find what Drake hints at, hidden in the ice block – which was ultimately found by streamer Kishka – led officials to control the crowd chaos.

Fire Chief Jim Jessop ordered the area shut down and, with the help of firefighters, had it hosed down to thaw the frozen sculpture.

Now, Toronto's mayor, Olivia Chow, threw her support behind the decision after city officials were caught unprepared by the buzz surrounding the stunt.

“Drake is a big supporter of our city, and there’s so much excitement across our city towards this new album, The Iceman,” she said during a press conference. “I’m excited too, it’s going to be a great summer … but please, be safe.”

Brad Bradford, a mayoral hopeful, also raved about Drake's stunt, which boosted Toronto's appeal.

“I think Drake’s made a lot of positive contributions to the city of Toronto. I think this was actually kind of an interesting thing; it got a lot of buzz, and in a positive way, about the city of Toronto, and any time we can get Toronto out there in a positive way, a city that we can be proud of, I think that’s a net positive benefit for the city.”

Meanwhile, Drake's Iceman will drop on May 15.
