Princess Anne pays tribute to her mother
The Princess Royal opened The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in The Regent’s Park on Tuesday
Princess Anne known as the Princess Royal, officially opened The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in The Regent’s Park, London to mark the centenary of her mother's birth.
According to a statement issued by the royal family, "Created as a tranquil and fully accessible space for reflection, the two‑acre garden was developed by The Royal Parks in collaboration with HTA Design. "
During the visit, The Princess Royal was shown the garden’s design features, including a circular wildlife‑supporting pond, climate‑resilient planting and a viewing platform overlooking The Regent’s Park.
"Her Royal Highness met members of the garden project team and the gardeners responsible for its creation, and unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening. The garden, which commemorated the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II, was scheduled to open to the public later that month," said the statement.
Meanwhile, King Charles paid a tender tribute to his late mother Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday on what would have been her 100th birthday, saying his "darling Mama" would "remain forever in our hearts and prayers".
Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning and longest-lived monarch, was born on April 21, 1926, and spent 70 years on the throne before her death in September 2022 at the age of 96.
