Jim Parsons makes shocking confession about his 'Big Bang Theory' character: 'I'm more surprised'

Jim Parsons has opened up about making a shocking decision regarding The Big Bang Theory reboot.

For those unaware, Parsons played the role of Sheldon Cooper, “a brilliant but eccentric physicist known for his rigid routines, lack of social awareness and sharp intellect,” in the beloved television sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady for CBS.

The show, which followed “a group of socially awkward scientist friends navigating work, friendship and relationships,” dropped 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. It starred Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Johnny Galecki, Mayim Bialik, and others.

On Friday, April 17, Parsons showed up on The View to promote his Broadway show Titanique, where he talked about his return to The Big Bang Theory reboot if the show’s creators ever decide to make it.

“I don’t believe I would do a reboot I can’t say I miss him, partly because, especially 12 years on a TV show where they’re writing for this specific actor, there’s a lot of me in that. Not the genius part, but there’s a lot of me in that,” he said, referring to his role of Cooper.

The 53-year-old American actor admitted that “there’s a lot about his qualities and just who he was” as people’s “reaction to it” says it all.

“The longer it goes on, I’m more and more surprised when people approach me about it. Not because I’m stupid, but because I’m like, oh, it makes sense, but I’m just not thinking it. But it’s always really sweet,” the Young Sheldon star noted.

It is pertinent to mention that Jim Parsons secured four Primetime Emmy Awards for his character Cooper in The Big Bang Theory.
