It is believed that D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, used a “sharp instrument" while murdering 14-year-old girl Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

For those unaware, the 21-year-old American singer and songwriter is accused of killing Celeste and keeping her dead body in the trunk of his Tesla for months after a report of her disappearance was filed by her mother in 2024. As per her mother’s complaint, her daughter went on a movie date with her boyfriend David and never returned.

In the Monday, April 20 press release, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman revealed D4vd, who has been charged with first-degree murder, was expected to be arraigned on the charges Monday afternoon.

"The criminal complaint also includes special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, murder for financial gain and lying in wait as well as a special allegation that Burke personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a sharp instrument, to commit the crime," he shared.

According to Hochman, D4vd murdered Celeste on April 23, 2025, then he dismembered her and put her organs in two bags before hiding them in the trunk of his vehicle. The remains remained in his car for four months.

It is pertinent to mention that Hochman stated that he was allegedly engaged in "repeated lewd and lascivious s***** relations" with Celeste and he killed her to save himself from illegal s***** relationship that would have destroyed his music career.
