Laraine Newman opened up about one regret regarding her casting in Saturday Night Live.

At the Los Angeles screening of Lorne, a documentary about the legendary creator of Saturday Night Live, Newman spoke to PEOPLE magazine pertaining to how she was cast in the late-night live sketch comedy variety show.

Newman told the outlet that she did not experience a nerve-wracking audition like other cast members in the show.

Calling to mind, the 74-year-old said, "I did not know I was auditioning. Lorne Michaels was producing a special for Lily Tomlin. So, he and Lily came to The Groundlings because they needed to cast some extra people, and they cast me from that show, but I didn't know they were there."

For those unaware, Newman was the founder of an improv and sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings, that Saturday Night Live creators had been using for years to recruit talent.

“Then the second time he came, because he was casting SNL again, I did not know he was there. So I did not go through that harrowing experience that everybody describes. I feel kind of guilty about admitting that,” the Invaders from Mars star confessed, alluding to Lorne.

It is pertinent to mention that Newman, who remained on the show from 1975 to 1980, played characters like the "Valley Girl" Sherry and Connie Conehead in the show.

Saturday Night Live’s original cast members included stars like John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Garrett Morris, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, and Chevy Chase.
