Sam Altman residence targeted in second shooting incident
Police examine multiple incidents linked to shots fired and earlier firebomb attempt
Sam Altman's home shooting incident is under investigation after a second alleged attack targeted the residence of Altman in San Francisco, United States. The event involved two suspects arrested after shots were reportedly fired outside his Russian Hill property on Sunday.
Authorities say the case follows an earlier attack on the same home just days before, which created risks of further targeted attacks. The Altman home shooting incident occurred on Sunday morning when police arrived at the OpenAI CEO residence after receiving reports about possible gunfire.
The San Francisco Standard reported that surveillance footage showed a vehicle passenger firing a weapon at the property. San Francisco Police Department officers later detained two suspects after tracking a vehicle linked to the scene using licence plate data.
Authorities confirmed this is the second home shooting incident that happened to OpenAI's owner within a short period. The police arrested another suspect on Friday after he allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the same residence.
The police continue their investigation work for both events while they search for links between the two attacks. The officers investigated a nearby area during their Sunday response and discovered three firearms.
The suspects, who were 25 and 23 years old, received arrest and negligent discharge of a firearm charges.
San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Chief Derrick Lew stated that they consider gun-related crimes to be serious offences which require police to arrest offenders and bring them to court for maximum legal punishment. He said that police response showed immediate results because it enabled them to take dangerous weapons off the streets.
