Meghan Markle comes out in support of Prince Harry as he defends British troops after Trump remarks
Meghan Markle is also set to join Prince Harry for an event in Britain in July
Meghan Markle has extended her support to husband Prince Harry after he defended the British troops following US President Donald Trump criticism.
In an interview with the Fox News, Trump said NATO troops "stayed a little off the front lines" during the conflict and insisted the US had "never needed" its allies, despite invoking the alliance's collective defence clause after 9/11.
Following Trump remarks, Prince Harry, who undertook two frontline tours to Afghanistan with the Army Air Corps, said "I served there. I made lifelong friends there. And I lost friends there."
"Thousands of lives were changed forever. Mothers and fathers buried sons and daughters. Children were left without a parent. Families are left carrying the cost. Those sacrifices deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect."
According to official UK figures, 405 of the 457 British casualties who died in Afghanistan were killed in hostile military action.
The US reportedly lost more than 2,400 soldiers.
Amid this development, Meghan took to Instagram and shared photos of Prince Harry's military service.
In what appears to be a gesture of solidarity with Harry, Meghan posted a collection of photographs to her Instagram stories showcasing the Duke’s military service and his position as patron of the Invictus Games.
