Prince William, Kate Middleton spark backlash with New Year post featuring 'menace to the world’
Prince William and Kate Middleton leave royal fans upset with New Year post
Prince William and Kate Middleton sparked backlash with their New Year wish which included a photo of the US President Donald Trump.
The Prince and Princess of Wales marked new year with a post featuring their major milestones of 2025 but one photo left their fans upset.
Among the videos and pictures, one featured William and Kate welcoming Trump and first lady Melania Trump to the UK for a state visit with King Charles.
The snap did not sit well with royal fans and followers with many writing how they “liked” the Instagram post and later “unliked” because of Trump’s photo.
“It was so beautiful until someone HAD to include that photo of Trump,” one critic wrote, while another added, “Liked then unliked because we do NOT support Trump…gross…”
“Shame to have spoilt a lovely montage with the vile orange monstrosity's visit,” another annoyed fan commented.
A third commented, “Very disappointed that Trump was there on this photo montage!” with another writing, “Loved it until I saw trump!!”
A US citizen also commented on the post, explaining why William and Kate should not have opted to add the American president’s picture in the montage.
“Wishing you a healthy and happy new year,” they penned, adding, “As a US citizen, I would have never included Donald Trump. He’s destroyed a lot of lives in 2025 and is a menace to the world.
“He doesn’t in any way deserve to grace your wonderful Instagram feed.”
The post also included glimpses from Kate’s appearance at her first Trooping the Colour since cancer remission and William’s Rio de Janeiro’s trip for his Earthshot Prize Awards.
Additionally, it had snaps from of William and Kate at state banquet hosted for Trump, Princess of Wales’ Carol concert this year and the couple’s surprise visit to Northern Ireland.
