Prince Harry is likely to experience mixed emotions at Christmas as the royal family comes together at Sandringham.
However, according to a royal expert, the Duke of Sussex’s priority will be celebrating the holiday with his wife Meghan and children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in California.
Speaking with The Mirror, royal correspondent Jennie Bond noted how openly Harry has spoken about missing parts of his UK life, including friends, family gatherings and familiar traditions.
She said that seeing images of his relatives making the traditional Christmas walk to church could briefly bring a sense of nostalgia.
However, those feelings may pass quickly as Harry enjoys the festive season in the Californian sunshine with his family.
“He’s on record as saying he misses elements of his UK life, including the banter, pub culture, friends, and family gatherings," she said.
Bond added, “And he says he still has a deep love for Britain so the images of his family making that familiar walk to Sandringham Church might, indeed, pull at his heartstrings. But maybe not for long.
“When he’s enjoying Christmas in the warm Californian sunshine, with his wife, children and mother-in-law, the attraction of an often grey, damp Norfolk might fade a little.”
This comes amid reports Charles may extend an olive branch to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and invite them over at Christmas at Sandringham.
