Jack Black opens up about a SNL' skit written by Amy Poehler and Emily Spivey
Jack Black finally shared the details of an unaired Saturday Night Live skit written by Amy Poehler and Emily Spivey.
The 56-year-old American actor and comedian appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, December 16, where he shed light on a sketch, "Boys Night Out," that Amy Poehler and Emily Spivey wrote but it never reached audiences.
Black, who has gotten a chance to host the long-running comedy show since his debut in 2002, said, “I pitched it to Amy, and Amy wrote it up for me. Bespoke for me. And it was just a little song. I was like, ‘I think it would be really fun to come out and sing a song.’"
He went on to recall the chorus: "Boys night out / Boys night out / Now we’re really rockin’ / And the chicks are all a-squawkin’ / ‘Cause we’re talking ‘bout a boys night out!”
According to Meyers, the sketch was about a man whose wife was out for the day, so he considered it a great opportunity to have a boys' night out.
Notably, Black and the fans of the Late Night audience — "thought it was funny," but the general viewers did not find it pleasing.
"It really took a dump-ski," the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star recounted.
