Lily Collins is excited to return as Emily Cooper in the upcoming fifth season of the Emily in Paris.
During a candid chat with Extra, the actress opened up about her early doubts regarding the future of the Netflix hit.
In doing so, she admitted that the show's longevity was far from guaranteed when it first premiered in October 2020.
"The show was delayed," Collins explained, recalling the uncertainty surrounding its launch.
"It came out in COVID, we weren't really sure what the future in filming TV or film would be. Would we get to come back together?"
Reflecting on how far the series has come, Collins said reaching season five still feels surreal.
"And so, I think, like Ashley said, to even be saying five feels insane…," she added, referencing her co-star Ashley Park, who plays Mindy Chen on the show.
Collins went on to express her appreciation for the cast, crew, and streaming platform that helped the series thrive.
"We're so incredibly grateful to get to all be together and revisit these characters and work with this crew and Netflix," she said.
Ashley Park echoed those sentiments, admitting she is still amazed by the global impact of the series.
"I can not believe" how big the show has become, she shared.
"The fact that Netflix is global and the fact that truly people from maybe every country now has come up to us and felt very connected to these stories and characters, and it feels universal in that way is really special," Park concluded.
